Business Development Manager / Account Executive

Overview:
 
Business Development Manager / Account Executive is responsible for generating revenue through the sale of season ticket and group ticket packages. Builds business by identifying and selling new prospects and maintain relationships with clients.
 
Qualifications: 
 
·       Bachelor’s Degree in sports management, business, marketing or related field preferred. 
·       Prior sales experience preferred, ticket sales experience in sports/entertainment is highly preferred
·       Title will be dependent on relevant experience 
·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook required, experience with CRM and ticketing software a plus.
·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language required. 
·       Demonstrated ability to manage numerous business relationships in a professional manner.
·       Must be professionally aggressive and competitive team player with a dedicated positive attitude.
·       Ability to thrive as a member of a small team in a fast-paced environment working independently while supporting the team in achieving common goals.
·       Superior time management, communication, organizational and public presentation skills and an acute attention to detail is a must. 
·       Highly motivated with a strong aspiration to be successful in competitive sales environment.
·       Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed, in addition to traditional business hours.

 
Essential Job Functions: 
 
·       Responsible for maximizing revenue through the sale of Maine Mariners ticket packages including season tickets, partial plans, group tickets, and premium suites.
·       Develop prospects by calling on both self-generated and provided leads. Proactively and aggressively solicit and generate new business to maximize season and group ticket sales revenue.
·       Anticipate needs of clients and maintain relationships with the highest level of customer service and inquiry response times to ensure positive customer experiences.
·       Establish professional relationships focusing on the need of the existing client base and prospects and conduct follow up with active clients to encourage repeat business.
·       Use proactive tactics to create opportunities for new business with existing customers. 
·       Make use of database, referrals, social media and other sources to conduct aggressive outreach to increase both sales and prospect database. 
·       Utilize both telemarketing (including outbound cold/warm calls and receiving inbound sales calls) as well as digital communication and in person meetings to develop business and increase revenue.
·       Meet or exceed appointed sales goals for all ticket packages.
·       Maintain complete and accurate records for customers.
·       Participate in team meetings and be willing to creatively contribute ideas to develop new sales initiatives and share best practices.
·       Staff all home games to assist ticket sales promotional programs, activities and special events.

Intellectual/Social demands:
 
·       While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits.  Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time.  This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to foster collaboration, recognize and resolve conflicts, and openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

 
Physical demands:
 
·       While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; occasionally moves about the arena before/during/after events to service client and perform job functions; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. 
 
Work environment:
 
·       The duties of this position are usually performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.

Job Summary

This is a part-time position within the Maine Mariners Game Presentation Department. The Maine Mariners Promotional Team staff consists of an energetic team of individuals who are enthusiastic and passionate about the Maine Mariners as well as the game of hockey. The Maine Mariners Promotional Team has two main roles; Promotions Port, and Promo Team.
 

Responsibilities: 

  •  Serve as a member of the on and off-ice promotions team for all Maine Mariners home games as well as at outside events, including community parades, expos, fairs, etc.
  •  Interact with fans in a friendly, professional, and fun manner at the arena and outside events
  •  Assist with mascots pre-game and in-game and at any community appearances
  •  Assist in the creation and execution of theme nights
  •  Create and execute in-game performances, skits, and other between period games 
  • Help build long-term fan loyalty through providing a strong game day experience
  •  Assist pre-game as necessary
  •  Assist in any community events 
  • Additional duties as assigned 


Qualifications

  • Be fun, confident and outgoing
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to skate may be helpful but not required
  • Strong communication skills. Able to communicate and problem solve with co-workers
  • Assist with the set-up, execution and break-down of daily events and/or promotions
  • Flexible availability – including all 36 Mariners home games and any post-season games as well as some weekends and holidays
  • Ability to easily stand and move up and down stairs. 
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop and reach overhead as needed
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions including; cold, wind, rain and heat
