Alex Kile becomes first Maine Mariner to sign ECHL contract
Former Cincinnati Cyclone makes move to Mariners for inaugural season
Portland, ME – June 22, 2018 – The Maine Mariners have made another mark in history with the first player signing to the ECHL team. Alex Kile (6-0/194) has the honor of becoming the first Maine Mariner to sign an ECHL contract to start the 2018-19 season.
Kile, a forward from Troy, Michigan, joins the Mariners after a successful NCAA career with the Michigan Wolverines playing in 130 games with 40 goals and 40 assists for 80 points. Kile wore the “C” as a senior for the Wolverines during the 2016-17 season before joining the Rochester Americans of the AHL. Kile most recently suited up for the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL where he had 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points through 46 regular season games.
“We are excited to have him on the team and also excited to have him as our first signing,” said Head Coach Riley Armstrong. “We are looking to Kile to play a big part in the offensive side of the team and also be a large part of the leadership group in our first season.”
The Mariners, proud affiliate of the New York Rangers, will start play in the inaugural season October 13, 2018 as members of the ECHL. The ECHL is the premier AA hockey league in the United States.
