PESKI BACK TO PORTLAND FOR THIRD SEASON

PORTLAND, ME – August 16, 2023 – Defenseman Andrew Peski became the latest returning Mariners player to sign on for the 2023-24 season, the team announced on Wednesday. Peski will enter his third season in Maine, after serving as an alternate captain in 2022-23.

A native of Ottawa, ON, Peski first came to the Mariners in the 2021-22 season, while on an American Hockey League contract with the Providence Bruins. He appeared in 44 games with the Maine that season, scoring four goals while adding 12 assists. Peski returned to the Mariners on an ECHL contract for 2022-23, and played in 49 games, posting three goals and 13 assists.

Peski has played 20 career games in the AHL with Providence and Springfield. In addition to his Mariners career, he’s seen ECHL action with the Jacksonville Icemen.

Prior to turning pro, Peski played four seasons of NCAA DI hockey with the University of North Dakota. He played junior hockey in the Central Canada Hockey League and United States Hockey League, winning a Clark Cup championship with the USHL’s Tri City Storm in 2016.

“I’m excited to be back in Portland again this year,” said Peski. “Last year didn’t end the way we wanted it to which makes me even more excited about this year. I’m looking forward to seeing the Mariners fans on October 21st!”

Peski is the ninth player to be announced on the 2023-24 Mariners roster, which can be viewed here.

The Mariners kick off their fifth ECHL season on October 20th, 2023 in Trois-Rivieres, QC against the Trois-Rivieres Lions, with the home opener presented by Evergreen Credit Union on Saturday, October 21st at 6 PM, also against the Lions.
